World Mental Health Day (WMHD) provides an opportunity for everyone working in the mental health sector to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide. This year’s theme set by the World Federation for Mental Health is ‘Mental Health in an Unequal World’.
Our activities for World Mental Health Day include:
- Our Stress Matters session on 7 October at 4pm will focus on a discussion around how we can each play a role in reducing the stigma around mental health and what we would like to see happen in the world to “normalise” mental health.
- Our Anger Talk on 9 October, 12pm-1pm as part of the Epsom Mental Health and Wellbeing Festival.
- Our Wellbeing walks on 12 October at 1pm in Leatherhead, on 14 October at 1pm in Walton-on-Thames. On 14 October, our Epsom Downs walk will be extended to 2.5 hours and include a visit to the carved benches in the Centenary woods in Langley Vale. Please note that you are welcome to bring your camera to our walks if you fancy some walking photography!
- Our new Wellbeing Advice and Information Drop-ins with Lenny starting on 13 October, 9am-12pm
- Sharing posts about MFT to raise awareness of our free mental health services to Surrey residents
- A blog about Acceptance and Self-Stigma written by Chris, one of our clients, supporters and regular blog contributors. It will appear in our blog section so keep an eye out for it!
- A vlog by Sefik, empowerment coach and supporter of MFT. It will appear in our blog section too!
- Our new Time to Change Surrey website launch – exact date to be confirmed so keep your eyes peeled for more info!
